Miami Springs Historical Hike

INTRODUCTION

When the world-famous pioneer flier, Glenn Hammond Curtiss, planned Miami Springs from the air back in the early 20’s, the lush, green area then bordered the Everglades.

Now “The Springs” is at the virtual center of the fast growing South Florida megatropolis, rimmed by expressways and adjacent to Miami International Airport - the Gateway to Latin America.

The first time this hike took place was on October 26, 1996 in commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of Miami Springs. Through projects like this, Scouting helps create and promote civic education and public awareness of local communities.
