1927 - Steel vertical lift bridge, relocated in 1954 from its original site across the Miami Canal at 36th Street to give egress from Miami Springs into Hialeah. This excellent example of
early counter-balance, vertical lift bridge, remains in continuous use to the present day, although maintained in lowered position due to no large, river traffic. The steel/concrete counterweights that raised it
were removed in 1981. This very imposing historic bridge has been an important engineering, transportation and community link between the cities of Miami Springs and Hialeah. DESIGNATED MIAMI SPRINGS HISTORIC SITE
1992.
