From here, looking south toward a maintenance facility which is now part of Miami International Airport, is the location of what was called PAN AMERICAN FIELD. It was established October 16, 1928 and consisted of 116 acres. 1929 marked the first U.S. Mail flown to Nassau, Puerto Rico, and Panama. Eastern Air Transport's first passenger flight to New York was in 1931.
